X’s death resulted in a massive spike in donations on Geneva Ayala’s GoFundMe page.
XXXTENTACION was a polarizing figure in the public eye and that aspect didn’t change since his untimely death this past Monday. While fans and hip hop heads mourned the death of a the rapper, there was a community of people that weren’t willing to forget the allegations held against the late rapper. A lot of people circulated his ex-girlfriend and alleged victim, Geneva Ayala’s, GoFundMe page which was made to raise funds for surgery she needed from the alleged domestic abuse she dealt with. Since the rapper’s death, she received an outpour of support and donations for her campaign.
Geneva Ayala received nearly $10K in donations since XXXTENTACION was pronounced dead on Monday afternoon. Prior to his death, Ayala’s GoFundMe campaign passed her goal of $25K. Since his death, she received close to 700 donations that brought the fundraiser up to $34,762. Much of it had to do with social media and the stories that circulated since his death.
Despite the accusations, Geneva has been grieving the death of XXXTENTACION. While many people have continued to slander the rapper after his death because of her accusations, she’s stood up against it and explained how she finds it “disgusting” that people are speaking on her behalf without knowing how she actually feels on the situation.
