Smokepurpp will be the first to tell you that he birthed an entire generation of “SoundCloud rappers.” While he certainly has a point in that his style influenced a core of artists coming up out of Florida, some artists may not agree with the bold statements he has made in the past. Regardless, Purpp has shown that he will continue to take credit for the inception of a new sound whether or not it’s factual. Much of his clout was solidified through his Deadstar mixtape and, according to Lil Purpp’s claims from earlier today, the sequel is on the way.
Recently caught up in the Lil Pump & J. Cole beef, Smokepurpp has a lot of extra buzz around his name and he’s decided to take advantage of it. Dropping off a brand new leak from the upcoming Deadstar 2, Purpp was in the mood to share some new music, letting his fans know ahead of time that he was thinking of throwing up a song on SoundCloud. An hour later, “Deadstar Lifestyle” arrived on his page, affirming that the project is still on the way. Holding his fans over until the official drop, Purpp clarified that this is simply a quick freestyle. The drug-fueled lyrics are nothing new for the Florida rapper, staying in a lane he knows how to operate and working his charm within it.
