KXNG Crooked outlines the concept for his upcoming album with “Welcome to Planet X,” which features narration from Eminem.
About a week after sharing the video to “Shoot Back (Dear Officer),” which showed KXNG Crooked inspiring a revolt against crooked police, the Slaughterhouse emcee is back with a new track, “Welcome to Planet X,” off his upcoming album, Good Vs Evil. “Welcome to Planet X” is the first track to play after the Good Vs Evil opener (which is assisted by Just Blaze), and it begins with an ominous spoken word address from Eminem. “I live in a world that’s different than your world,” says Em, going on to describe a place where free speech and democracy don’t exist. “Welcome to Planet X, motherfucker,” he declares, setting the scene for Crooked to detail his imagined (but not unimaginable) state of chaos.
Like last month’s “Campaign Speech,” Eminem’s first single in over a year, “Welcome to Planet X” is a response to the highly contentious upcoming election, which, for many, has signaled the onset of a dangerous socio-political culture. Today’s societal ills, like extreme poverty and police brutality, exist on Crooked’s Planet X, though “in this alternate reality the lower class citizens use violence to fight back at all times,” says the Long Beach rapper. He hopes the presence of Eminem will force people to pay attention to the issues being raised within the song.
