Kehlani – Distraction

Kehlani’s suicide attempt elicited a weirdly broad variety of reactions from concern to disgust. The Bay Area is on the mend and back to releasing fiery R&B jams. Last week’s “CRZY” was quite good; this week’s “Distraction” is even better “Distraction” begins with a powerful ’90s Ginuwine-esque groove and slowly accumulates synthetic layers that bring the song into the new millennium. Each of Kehlani’s notes lands square in the middle of the pitch as she urges her bae to distract her from the social media shitstorm that circles around her. “Distraction” is a mortal lock to be added to the #FIREEMOJI Spotify playlist when it drops on all platforms tomorrow.
