20-year-old Scottish producer, multi-instrumentalist, and R&B singer Connor Pearson comes through today with his new song “That Way,” that was produced by none other than The Weeknd and Drake collaborator, Doc McKinney. The track arrives with a lush instrumentation, quickly picking up with the weight of Connor’s impressive vocals as the backbeat treads freely in a dreamy, key-filled escape courtesy of Doc McKinney. “The musical essence of ‘That Way’ was definitely inspired by the culture and sounds that has been coming out of Toronto—Drake/OVO/The Weekend and so many others,” Connor told Complex over email. “Toronto is special place, it was my first time visiting. After spending some time in the city with Doc we hit the studio and ‘That Way’ was created. Doc really influenced the direction of the track, it was mad cool working with him. I was at a stage in my life where music became my main focus and certain relationships became hard to maintain…subconsciously I feel that’s what drove the lyrical content.”

Earlier this week, Zane Lowe shared his D.R.A.M collaboration, “Free Fall,” as a Beats 1 World First, which was also inspired by his time with Doc. The two songs are the latest release from Red Bull Sound Select, which has dropped two-song digital singles from the likes of Gallant, Jhené Aiko, River Tiber, Pusha T, and more. Listen to the premiere of “That Way” below and look for the track to officially arrive Oct. 14 along with “Free Fall” on Red Bull Sound Select.
