Russ – The Game

Prior to the drop of his debut, self produced album There’s Really A Wolf, Russ’ main concern was making a lasting first impression. The talent was evident, as the New Jersey rapper not only spit bars, but sung, produced, mixed, mastered and engineered the entire project. Still, the self-proclaimed “Soundcloud King” first had to solidify a foothold beyond the comforts of his “kingdom.” And with a sold-out tour in the bag and a debut appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Russ seems poised to really make some noise in the coming months.

On that note, Russ has penned a somber new anthem, which details the scope of his ambition. Now that he’s conquered the first step, he’s able to officially set his sights on the biggest picture – the game. And no, that doesn’t refer to the rapper. “The Game” has been one of the most stable metaphors in hip-hop lore, and many rappers have aspired to find their place within it. Now, Russ joins their ranks as the latest to attempt, making his intentions known over a haunting choir-driven instrumental.
