Pusha T Explains How His Beef With Drake Started (Watch Video)

Pusha T recently sat down with Funk Flex and talked about how his beef with Drake got started.

It goes back to Pusha’s problems with Cash Money, which started right around the time his group the Clipse worked with Birdman and Lil Wayne on the 2002 cut “What Happened to That Boy.”

Pusha said the Clipse was known for wearing the Japanese clothing brand BAPE and of course rhyming about selling drugs. When the group was forced to take a hiatus due to label drama, Wayne began wearing a lot of BAPE and started rapping about drug dealing.

When Wayne was asked about the style-jacking in an interview, he dissed the Clipse in his answer.

“It was a Cash Money thing, early, early, super early on,” Push explained. “They asked Wayne or said something to him about, ‘You’re taking their style. You’re taking their style about drugs, and you’re wearing the BAPE.’ I remember it was an interview [Wayne said] something crazy, like, ‘Man, I’m on million dollar buses. You think I wanna be like them?’”

Pusha said Drake inherited the beef once he came to Cash Money/Young Money and the two have been sending shots at each other ever since.

The Virginia rapper added that he’s sick of Birdman constantly dissing him, especially after he joined GOOD Music.

“Coming to GOOD Music, right? I feel like when I got there, there were a few things that also happened,” said Push. “I remember a Birdman interview, he was like, ‘Man, ain’t nobody on GOOD Music but Kanye, anyway.’ He was just talking about how great they were. There were so many different barbs, songs, back-and-forths … It was just a lot of weird things going on.”
