Iconic producer and jazz musician Quincy Jones is perhaps the most respected figure in pop music, helping Michael Jackson create some of the biggest hits in his career- including The Way You Make Me Feel, Billie Jean and Thriller. Together they won 28 Grammy Awards and at 84 years old, Jones’ legacy is intact.
However, in a recent interview with Vulture Magazine, he revealed some details about the late King of Pop that may shock fans who didn’t know them before.
Asked what about fans didn’t know about MJ, Quincy Jones said, ‘I hate to get into this publicly, but Michael stole a lot of stuff. He stole a lot of songs. Donna Summer’s “State of Independence and “Billie Jean.” The notes don’t lie, man. He was as Machiavellian as they come.’
He further described Jackson as greedy, saying he should have paid some of his instrumentalists more than he did. ‘Greedy, man. Greedy. “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough” — Greg Phillinganes wrote the c sectionPhillinganes, an in-demand studio keyboardist, played on a handful of Jackson-Jones collaborations, including the 1979 album Off the Wall, from which “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” comes.. Michael should’ve given him 10 percent of the song. Wouldn’t do it…’
