The tribute album much like the television reboot is very much in the vanguard. Older artists are looking the musicians they’ve influence to help reignite interest in their bodies of work. Elton John has not recorded refreshingly new material because he’s broadened his scope to working on scores and theatre productions.
The updated “Bennie and the Jets” is but one of thirteen re-recordings of Elton John classic material with songwriting partner Bernie Taupin. Q-Tip even colludes with Demi Lovato on a cover of “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” originally performed with his Jets backing band, and singer Kikl Dee.
